Caring for Natural Fiber Decor

By Zenovio · May 15, 2025 · 3 min read

Natural fiber decor needs gentle care to stay looking its best. Here is how to maintain it.

Macrame wall hangings

Spot clean only. Use a damp cloth with mild detergent on stains. Avoid soaking, which can weaken the fibers and cause the natural dye to bleed. Dust regularly with a soft brush or vacuum on low setting.

Cotton throw blankets

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low or line dry. Avoid bleach and high heat, which can shrink cotton and damage the fibers. Reshape while damp to maintain the knit pattern.

Table linens

Machine wash cold with like colors. Iron on low heat while slightly damp for a crisp look. For linen, hang to dry and iron on medium heat. Store folded to prevent wrinkling.

Jute rugs and mats

Vacuum regularly with a brush attachment. Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid soaking jute, which can cause it to weaken and smell. Air dry completely before placing back on the floor.

With proper care, your natural fiber decor will look beautiful for years.
